Units
The units in KingsAge are military troops that the player can research and train. Both actions cost resources and settlers. If the player has units, he can defend himself, other players or attack and pillage deserted settlements. Special units also have additional skills like the spies' espionage or the count who can even permanently take over foreign settlements (so-called conquering).
Research
Before a player can hire units, he has to research the corresponding unit type. In order to do this, he has to fulfil the unit type requirements and spend a certain amount of resources in the barracks. The research itself lasts a particular amount of time, which is reduced with the increasing barrack level.
The count is an exception, as counts do not have to be researched in the barracks.
Here's an overview of research costs and basic times. The research time is reduced here by the level of the barracks:
Train
Researched units can be trained directly in the barracks. Each units costs resources and has a particular training time. After the time has expired, the player is credited with the unit.
The player can put several units, also several different types of units into a training list here. The units are then trained in sequence. The following table shows the training costs and times. The training time is reduced depending on the level of the barracks.
The count is also an exception here, as the count has special requirements in the form of golden armour and can also be trained in the residence. The count's building time is also determined by the residence.
Dismiss
Units that have already been built can be dismissed via the 'Dismiss' button in the command menu in the barracks. The player will not receive any resources back, but bound settlers will be released again.
